Hazelbury Bryan Primary School

About Us

The School Day

Lessons officially begin at 8.50am although pupils are allowed into the school building from 8.40am. There is a Breakfast Club which operates from 7.30am until the start of school.

Whole school Assemblies take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons; parents are invited to attend any of the Friday Achievement Assemblies at 9:00, but especially if their child is a Special Achiever. On Thursdays the children have Assemblies in Key Stages or in classes.

All children have 15 minutes' break in the morning. Key Stage 2 have a separate morning break. They play in the playground, on the play equipment or on the field (weather permitting) in the summer. Lunch is from 12 noon - 1.15pm, for Owls and Kestrels and from 12.15pm - 1.15pm for Hawks and Eagles. Hot meals are available through Local Food Links (www.localfoodlinks.org.uk) for the children if they wish to have them. As part of the universal free school meals, hot lunches are free for all of our Reception and KS1 children. The school day ends at 3:15pm. We offer an After School Club until 5.30pm if required.

Children will have a school reading book which they are encouraged to take home. Please try to listen to your child read daily and use their reading diaries to make a comment if appropriate.
