On Monday our forest school session focussed on risk assessment, first aid and emergency services. The children enjoyed looking for risks and thinking about how we could limit potential dangers, we even had some fog to add to our list of hazards! We explored first aid kits and learned about the role of and when to call the emergency services.

This week the Owls have been doing lots of consolidation work. In phonics we have been recapping the sounds we have learnt and are building words using magnetic letters and writing. We have played a game that involves reading the words on the game board and have also been playing ‘bingo’ and have had to use our listening ears to work out what the robot was sounding out. Fantastic phonics Owls.

Barn Owls have been listening to rhyming stories and thinking of their own rhyming words. Super duper Barn Owls!

We are really enjoying our new block play area. This week a couple of children decided to make a car that they could actually sit in, the excitement soon spread and we ended up with what can only be described as a stretch limousine that had a seat for every child! It also had a steering wheel, foot pedals, a sound system, wing mirrors, lights, windscreen wipers and arm rests of some of the seats! Great construction and teamwork Owls and Barn Owls!

The Foundation Base enjoyed meeting Harold on Wednesday and learnt all about how to keep ourselves healthy. They learnt that we need to eat and drink healthy foods and drinks like water and milk and that milk helps us build strong bones and teeth. They know that having a good night sleep is important to help us grow and that exercise is also important when being healthy!

Our photo this week is of our amazing self portraits...simply gorgeous!

We have had such a fun, busy week in the Foundation Base getting to know each other and our new classroom. We have been playing lots both indoors and outdoors and we are loving exploring all of our toys. We are becoming experts at washing our hands and have learnt a song to help us.

Well Done Owls and Barn Owls for settling back in so brilliantly!
